William Ted Morris—known to most as “W.T.” or “Billy”—was born in Trinity, Texas, on May 16, 1932, to Norman Lee Morris and Margaret Gertrude Morris. He passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the age of 93.
W.T. was preceded in death by parents, Norman and Margaret; beloved wife of 62 years, Jackie Morris; and siblings, Jimmy Morris, Paul Morris, and Charlene Mitchell. He is survived by son, Bill Morris, and wife, Cindy, of Sheridan, Texas; daughter, Deborah Williams, and husband, Marshell, of Navasota, Texas; son, Bobby Morris, and wife, Donna, of Montgomery, Texas; and son, David Morris, and wife, Tracy, of Granbury, Texas; in addition to eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Before moving into the private sector, W.T. served in the United States Navy from August 1952 to July 1956. Upon being honorably discharged, he went to work for the railroad before moving on to Shell Chemical. He found his professional calling in the insurance business, though, where he worked for John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance for many years, retiring from the company in the mid-1990s. Upon retirement, you could often find him serving as a marshal at several local golf courses.
W.T. was a lifelong lover of sports and the outdoors. After excelling in multiple sports at his alma mater, Humble High School, W.T. went on to play baseball during his military service. Throughout his life, he was equally at home swinging a club on the links, firing a rifle from a deer blind, or tending a fishing line from the back of a Jon boat. He passed on these passions to his children and grandchildren.
W.T.’s truest and dearest passion, though, even above his family and friends, was Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, and he left that legacy for his children and grandchildren as well. He gave his life to Jesus when he was a teenager and lived a life of faithful service to his king—often quoting his favorite verse (John 3:16) to anyone who would listen—until his very last breath.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made to the Spring Baptist Church Building Fund in honor of W.T.
