December 15, 1936 – August 28, 2025
William (Bill) T. Moyer passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at 5:51pm. He was 88 years old.
Bill grew up in Houston and graduated from Lamar High School where he met his high school sweetheart Patricia McMahon.
After serving as a Marine Reservist, he and Patti married. Their first child, William Michael Moyer, was born in 1960; Pamela Ann (Moyer) Sparks in 1964; and Brett McMahon Moyer in 1974.
While working for Champion Paper Company, Palmer Paper Company, and Butler Paper Company, he developed life-long relationships with co-workers and clients. Bill was an excellent salesman and was the number one salesperson in the paper industry.
Upon retiring from the paper business, Bill quickly became restless and went to work for another 20 years at Star Furniture. Due to his outgoing personality, he made more lasting connections with co-workers and customers.
Later in life, Bill was able to fulfill his life-long dream. Blessed with a God given talent, he was given the opportunity to be the lead vocalist for the Billy Ledbetter Orchestra. He performed with the band at Sambuca’s, Birra Poretti’s, wedding receptions, and the millennial New Year’s Eve party at The San Luis Hotel. Audiences loved his versions of “Frank Sinatra” music, and he always brought down the house with “My Way”. Through his love of music and karaoke, he made numerous friendships.
Bill is survived by Patti, his wife of 68 years; oldest son Mike Moyer and his wife, Laurie; daughter Pamela Sparks and her husband, Scott; son Brett Moyer and his wife, Kim. Grandchildren include Brittney (Moyer) Sprague and her husband, Brendan, along with their children Harrison and John Parker; Brandon Moyer; Courtney (Sparks) Waltens and her husband, Brandon; Casey Sparks; Jacob Moyer and Will Moyer.
