William L. “Bill” Murff, Sr., was born 8/8/1939 and passed away peacefully on 9/13/11. Bill served in the USAF from 1958 to 1962. He received a BBA from University of Houston in 1974. He was the 4th of seven children of Mary Annell Bridgewater Murff and William James Murff of Texas City. He was preceded in death by his son, First Lieutenant USAF Randy Murff, his parents, and his sisters, Mary Katherine Murff and Betty Sue Clark. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Petitt Murff and his children, William Murff, Jr and Janet Caruana; grandchildren Kaitlin Murff, Steve Caruana, Russell Caruana, and Lana Caruana; sisters, Elaine Smith, Clara Reece and husband Jimmy, Ruth Locke and brother Gerald Murff and wife Jeanie; mother-in-law Helen Petitt Simmons and brother-in-law Michael Petitt and wife Liz and sister-in-law Jo Parks and husband Buzz and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 18th at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Forest Park Westheimer. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to a charity of your choice.
