

William was born on June 10th, 1954 in Hobbs, New Mexico to William James and Nan McDaniel Ofield. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, TX in 1972. He attended Texas Tech University and earned a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1976. William married his high school sweetheart, Claudia Brandon in Midland Texas on January 10, 1976.
His career began as a Logging Engineer with Western Atlas in 1977 in Odessa, Texas where he spent over 16 years with the company. He then held various positions with Unocal and Altura, eventually joining Occidental Petroleum as a Senior Petrophysicist. In 2002 he accepted an opportunity to move to the Middle East with Oxy International working on projects in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain. William was an avid golfer and loved to play every moment he could. Living overseas also afforded him the opportunity to experience his dream of traveling the world. William was a member of the Society of Professional Well Log Analysts, Society of Professional Engineers, Air Force ROTC, and Sigma Chi Fraternity.
William was preceded in death by his Father, William James Ofield. He is survived by his wife, Claudia Brandon Ofield; son, Brandon Ofield and wife Erica of Midland, Texas; daughter, Rachel Mais and husband Chad of Dallas, Texas. He also is survived by one granddaughter, Olivia Grace Ofield; mother, Nan McDaniel Ofield of Katy, Texas; brother, Greg Ofield of Katy, Texas; sister, Karen Brouse of Austin, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 4th, 2016 at 3pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079. A reception with the family will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at www.bcrfcure.org.
