William moved to Hong Kong as a young adult and graduated from La Salle College before becoming headmaster of Pooi Sun English School in Hong Kong for 20 years. In 1966, William gave up his prestigious position and comfortable life in Hong Kong to reunite his wife Anna with her family in America and to provide his children with more opportunities. After immigrating to Houston, he worked in the grocery business for 27 years and retired in 1993. Throughout those years, William and Anna built a loving family which continues to grow, remains closely intertwined in each other’s lives and still carries on the 40+ year old Yeung tradition of weekly family dinners today. William was a very private man and he seldom talked about himself. His legacy is what is reflected in his children and his family. He taught them determination, hard work, self-reliance and the importance of family. His children have fond memories of how daddy took great care of them and protected them as they were growing up, all the while knowing he sacrificed everything so they could become U.S. citizens and earn college educations.
William was preceded in death by his wife Anna and is now reunited with her for eternity. He leaves behind six children Lily (Daniel) Chee, Helen (Peter) Lim, John (Louisa) Yeung, Alice (Howard) Gee, Mary (David) Rennie and Elizabeth (Kenneth) Brown; ten grandchildren Carol (Ali) Kazemi, Daniel (Jamie) Chee, Jr., Pamela (Adam) Black, Kimberly (Ryan) McAuley, Meagan Rennie, Andrew Rennie, Kenneth Brown, Jr., Kayla Brown, Nathan Gee and Samuel Gee; and nine great grandchildren Jordan Kazemi, Jacob Kazemi, Elise Chee, Rosie Chee, Desmond Chee, Lily Jeanne Black, Ethan Black, Austin Black, and Trenton McAuley.
