Willie Edmonds Jr. was born on May 13, 1932, to Mr. and Mrs. Willie Edmonds SR. in Loyd Bridges, LA. He attended and graduated from Carter C. Raymond in May 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in December 1952 and was discharged honorably in August 1953 due to his health. He moved to Houston, TX in November 1953 where he met his wife Barbara Kanaway in April 1955 at Calvary Baptist Church.
They were married in September 15, 1957 and from this union 4 girls were born, Felicia, Jacqueline, Jeanette and Bernadette. They were also blessed with 7 grandchildren, Telecia (Treyshelle), Brandon, Crystal (Tramane), Tristan, Jelecia, Briaa, and Geraldnique and 1 God grandchild, Willie Mae. The growth continued with 15 great grandchildren: He also leaves four sisters and three brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents (Willie and Louella), brother (Joseph), 3 sisters (Florence, Susie, Nevada), great-grandson (Jeremiah) and great-granddaughter(Tamar).
He worked at Capitol Steel Iron for 13 years and United States Postal Service as a Blacksmith Welder for 33 years. Willie also attended Kingdom Builders Bible Seminary and received his Doctorate degree in theology, May of 2013. He was ordained as a deacon in April 1964 at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon until he went home to be with the Lord.
Willie severed for 32 years as President of the Old Landmark Baptist District Association. He was a member of the Texas State Convention Brotherhood, Kashmere Garden Super Neighborhood #52 (Board of Directors), Northeast Concerns Citizen Civic League (over 30 years, 10 as treasurer), AARP (Chairperson of Legislature and JW Peavy Senior Center. He lived a life of service.

A visitation for Willie will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 4819 Hershe St., Houston, TX 77020. A funeral service will occur Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM, 4819 Hershe St., Houston, TX 77020. A burial will occur Monday, May 2, 2022 at 9:45 AM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.
Serving as Pallbearers are Alvin Byrd, Darren Spears, Gerald Lee, Cedric Johnson, Curtis Mcintosh and Billy Givens.
Honorary Pallbearers are Tristan Edmonds, Brandon Edmonds, Geraldnique Lee, Kyle Connor, Joseph Frilot and Theodore Avery.
