

Willie Hice, the son of the late Frankie and Johnny Hice, was born on September 2, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas and lost his 18 month battle with Cholangiocarcinoma cancer on June 26, 2013 in Humble, Texas.
Willie attended schools in San Antonio School ISD and was an outstanding graduate of the All Mighty Phillis Wheatley High School “CLASS of l962”. He enrolled at Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia for one year, and then enlisted into the U S Air Force serving 4 years. He received his BA from Texas Southern University, Houston, TX. He learned to be an Air Traffic Controller while in the air force and continued that career for 38 years at the Air Route Traffic Control Center in Houston, Texas.
On a blind date set up by one of his best friends he met and married his love Lilia Joyce Phillips on May 2, 1968. To this union they had two children.
Willie loved all sports, especially football and his beloved TEXANS. He enjoyed music, especially jazz and blues, people, and making everyone around him feel comfortable. To some family members he was referred to as “Mickey “ because of his jolly attitude. To his grandchildren he was ‘Pops”.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Flossie, and brother Johnny Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Joyce, daughter Nicole Hice (Fort Worth, TX.), son, Kristain Hice and wife Adelle (Kingwood, TX), 2 grandchildren, Keona (8) and Kayden (2), 3 brothers, Gilbert (Zelma), Charles (Jean), and Leroy (Theresa), 3 sisters, Billie Jean Bellinger, Frankie Brown, and Josephine Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
