

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dropkin; her brother, Thomas Bishop; her niece, Amy Carol Moulder; and her sisters, Thelma Moulder and Yuma Bishop.
She is survived by her son Daniel Dropkin; her son and daughter-in-law, David Dropkin and Lily Ma; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael Dropkin and Madlen Sadilkova ; and her daughter and son-in-law, Celia and Jeff Christie. She is also survived by her grandchildren Adam Yacoub; Gabrielle and Sara Dropkin; and Michelle and Melissa Christie.
During World War II, “Jean” was a welder on a launching ship tanker. She married Henry Dropkin in 1946, and both were active in issues of social justice for many years thereafter. Jean was also an accomplished artist, working primarily in oils, a member of an art league, and someone who loved to surround herself with the beauty of colors and with those who appreciated art. Jean was devoted to both the United Mine Workers and the Clothing and Textile Workers unions.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the Wilma Jean Bishop Art Education Fund, c/o Western Elementary School, POB 70, 315 East Union Street, Hartford, KY 42347. Checks to the fund should be made payable to the Ohio County Board of Education.
