She was born in Washington Park, Illinois on February 13, 1943, to Ann and Nelson Sampson, who precedes her in death. She enjoyed going back from time to time to visit. Growing up, she had the nickname Movie Star.
Wilma married Allan Michael Eliott Lockhart on August 31, 1984 in Dallas, Texas. They shared many fond memories throughout their 38 years of marriage including cruises, which she had to talk her husband into, but after one cruise he got the cruise bug, playing bridge together, although they didn’t always agree on the bidding system, playing darts, and their nightly competing in Jeopardy while eating dinner together. They both shared a love for Christ and lived their lives together to serve the Lord.
Wilma worked as an accountant and office manager for several years for American Liberty Oil and McDonough Engineering, and was known by her colleagues for being thorough and efficient and bringing an enjoyable atmosphere to the workplace.
As a believer of Christ, Wilma was an active member of Garland Road Church of Christ as well as Grace Presbyterian Church from 1997- present. As a member of Grace Presbyterian Church she was elected an Elder of the Church and served in multiple Church groups including; Women’s Bible Study, Horizon Sunday School, Sacristy Committee and ushering. She was also actively involved in a number of civic organizations including Act for America, Tea Party, and volunteered as an election official. Other hobbies included gambling, cruises, playing bridge, traveling, and visiting her grandchildren as she deeply loved her family.
Wilma is survived by her husband Michael, her children Ayleen McMahan, Laurie Barron, and Thomas Barron Jr., her step children Robert Gordon Eliott Lockhart (Sharon) and Peter Charles Eliott Lockhart (Elizabeth) her grandchildren; Nicholas Ehret (Karina), Jessica Ehret, Alexander, Katherine, Tashi-Anne and Angus; her siblings Judy Turner, Dorothy Muniz Rehling (Bill), Charles Sampson, Susan Atwell (Roy), and brother-in-law John Robert Eliott-Lockhart; as well as multiple extended family members.
Wilma especially will be remembered for her fiery spirit that served to strengthen everyone she met.
