Jane had a strong love for her family, which includes son Randy and wife Laurie, granddaughter Rachael and step-grandson Alex; son Rodney and wife Mickie, granddaughter Sara and husband Harry, great-grandsons Jason Ray & Tayden Ray, and grandson Russell and step-grandson William.
Jane, as she was commonly known, was born March 11,1937 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Her parents, Herman and Jean Lumpkins Emmons, precede her in death. She grew up in a large family with four brothers Lee, Herschel, Tim and Ron, along with three sisters, Mary, Peggy, and Lavern. Ron survives her.
She married Raymond Scaggs December 31, 1950. In addition to his good nature and good looks, his sharp dressing and pressed cream slacks caught her eye. Jane and Ray shared a life of devotion, love, and friendship. He preceded her in death, just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary. They both loved to dance and could boogie all night. Every nook and cranny of their beautiful home offers treasured memories and testimony to their many home-improvement projects they enjoyed doing together over the years.
For over 30 years she thrived in a career in the stock exchange brokerage firms where her reputation for efficiency and accuracy earned accolades from her peers. After retiring, her sister Lavern and her would often kid about teaming up as private investigators. Too bad they never did as there would have been no perp safe from such a busy-body duo and endless marvelous mischief.
Jane loved church, cooking and gardening…and for her “cleaning” was a favorite past time. One could say her dust was dusted. She was always known for having a beautiful, colorful yard filled with flowers and birdhouses Ray built. Jane loved cooking for her loved ones, especially the family favorite, Chicken and Dumplings. During the Holiday’s she loved to decorate and bake a wide variety of cookies to share with everyone.
Faith, Family and Friends were Jane’s bedrock. Nothing pleased her more than bringing folks together for a home cooked meal, good conversation and laughs. Her house was always spotless, the coffee pot on and the welcome genuine. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
