Wilma Warnick Simon

Wilma Warnick Simon, age 95, passed on Thursday, the 18th of June 2020, in Memorial-Hermann Hospital in the Houston Medical Center.

She was born on the 28th of February 1925, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, and lived most of her adult life in Houston, Texas, where she met her husband, Arthur. She dedicated many years to helping her husband run his business, selling emergency and safety equipment to fire departments and law enforcement agencies. Wilma was an avid participant in the ladies' activities at the Arabia Shrine. She was also an active member of Congregation Beth Israel.

She spent the last few years of her life residing at Treemont Retirement Community in Houston.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Sadie Warnick, and her sister, Harriet Blanche Warnick, of Bogalusa, Louisiana, and her husband, Arthur H. Simon, Jr., of Houston, Texas.

She is survived by her daughter, Carole Sue Simon (and wife Jennifer), of Houston, Texas, and numerous friends and relatives around the country.

The family will gather for a private in person interment at nine o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 24th of June. The service will be livestreamed via Facebook Live and the link can be found below.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed toward the American Heart Association, 10060 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77054; or to the American Diabetes Association, Attn: Service Center, 2451 Crystal Dr., Ste. 900, Arlington, VA 22202.

I had the pleasure of caring for Wilma at Treemont , we had a special bond! She was such a sweet and funny women. Sorry for your loss. I don’t know if you know me but my grandmother was Leah Warnick married to Issac L. Goldberg. I had met your mom a few times at family gatherings in N.O. At her age it is truly a celebration of life. All the best, Myron & Marcie Goldberg.

Carole Sue, I knew your parents from my days at TUTS and also from Beth Israel. I remember Wilma as a dedicated board member of TUTS. Whenever I saw her at temple, Wilma was always in great spirits and enjoyed a good visit. My condolences are with you and Jennifer for the loss of your mom, especially at this difficult time.
