

Wilmer D. Conley Sims, 87, entered into eternal rest on November 29, 2014 and joined who preceded him in death, parents: Kennie Jackson Sims & Katherine Frances Mize Sims; brothers: J.B., Sherman & Jerry Sims; sisters: Florene, Shirley & Winnie. He was born on May 24, 1927 in New Waverly, Texas and resided in Houston the most part of his life. He graduated in 1949 from the Texas School for the Blind in Austin, TX. He received awards for his many accomplishments in Track & Field. Wilmer was a hard worker that helped with The Lighthouse for the Blind. He was very proud to be an entrepreneur and found creative ways to be successful, selling household items made by hand and tools. He was a member of Candlelight Church of Christ in Northwest Houston. Wilmer was always jovial, had a great personality, loved to sing and never complained. He made the best of life, in spite of his circumstances. He will be greatly missed by his loving family, sisters: Anna Pilcher & Lorene Watkins and many nieces & nephews, too numerous to name. Visitation will be from 6-8PM on Wednesday, December 3rd. Funeral service will be held at 10AM on Thursday, December 4th at Brookside. Interment will follow in Gourd Creek Cemetery, New Waverly, Texas.
