

Wing Kou Chen (陳黃穎求), of Houston, TX, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the age of 78. She was born in a village of Taishan in Guang Dong Province of China (中國廣東省台山縣) on September 4, 1948 to Kam Ha and Fong Yee Wong. After immigrating with her mother to Houston via Hong Kong and matriculating at the University of Houston, she met and married James Tsai Kan Chen in 1973, and graduated with a Masters of Social Work.
Wing briefly worked as a social worker and followed her husband as he found work first in Caracas and then in Dhahran. After returning from Saudi Arabia, she settled into a life of singing, writing, walking, travel, and volunteering many hours in her Houston community. She is preceded in death by her husband James TK Chen and is survived by her three children Patricia Chen, Malinda del Mundo, and Althea Williams, and her grandchildren Elisa G. del Mundo, Zoe C. Williams, Timothy E. del Mundo, and Xander C. Williams.
Visitation will be held at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039, US, on August 3, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by the Funeral at the same location from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A Graveside service will take place at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039, US, on August 3, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
