Ygnacia was born February 2, 1924, in Runge, Texas to Fermin and Julia Treviño. In 1941, she married the love of her life, Martin Villarreal. They were married for 64 years, and were blessed with raising ten wonderful children.
Important objectives for their children were to instill love of God and in their Catholic faith, as well as, their encouragement for their children to do their best and succeed in their studies. This was successfully accomplished when their children pursued academic degrees including Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD.
A pivotal milestone in Ygnacia’s life was in 1942 when Martin joined the U.S. Army where he honorably served our country during World War II. Following the end of World War II Martin and his family moved to Houston, Texas, and then finally settled in Sugarland, Texas. Martin had purchased property in Sugarland where his children would experience much joy during their childhood years.
Ygnacia was passionate about her family, faith, and making treasured memories. Regarding her family, Ygnacia was a loving mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother whose enduring love was shared with all her family. Memories were made around the dinner table and her home cooked meals attracted not only her own family, but relatives who came from afar to enjoy these special home cooked meals always prepared with the secret ingredient of love!
Regarding her strong faith, Ygnacia and Martin were members of St. Theresa Catholic Church for over 60 years. They are fondly remembered as the family who occupied the front row at the Church and never arrived late! Faith was instilled into their children’s early years, God has remained a priority in their lives. Ygnacia was an active member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, she also devoted her time to the Altar Society, as well as the St. Vincent de Paul Ministry, and the St. Therese of the Child Jesus Lay Carmelites Order. Her longest ministry membership was with the Houston Guadalupanas. Ygnacia loved serving her Church, as this brought her immeasurable joy!
