Zayda Zolayvar Pechayco (1931 – 2018)

A new angel, Zayda Pechayco, went home to be with our Creator on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Born on August 23, 1931 in the Philippines, she peacefully left this world with family by her side.

Zayda touched so many lives and experienced much in 86 years. She survived WWII in the Philippines, where she held a lauded 28-year career at Philippine Long Distance Co. - Bacolod City, while rearing seven daughters with her late husband Sgt. Pedro V. Pechayco.

Zayda reinvented herself shortly after emigrating to the United States in 1985. She touched the lives of many families upon founding and operating Starlite Home, a personal care home for elderly patients through 2001.

Beauty, grace, independent spirit, and fearless perseverance are only some of the descriptions for Zayda.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters Cynthia Abarado (Troy), Mary Jane Lim (Arnold), Leila Fontenot (Burke), Irene Zaragosa (Salvador), Pamela Wilson (Ron), Glenda Yap (Jerry), and Christine Pechayco (Eric); grandchildren Ailynne, Anne-Marie, Arjan, Arvy Jason, Ada Fay, Hazel Kay, Isabella, Jillian, Katrina, Maefanwe; great-grandchildren Courtney, Daniel, David, Caterina, Christopher, Aria, Cason, Adrielle; siblings Celia Pison and Ruperto Zolayvar; friends; and extended family.

To all of Zayda’s family-
I was so glad to visit with so many of you at your mother’s visitation last Friday. Your mother and so many of you were such a huge support to the Rovello family a few years ago. Thank you all for making such a difference to the family of Dora Rovello. It is clear that your mother was one of God’s angels and we are all grateful to have been in her loving care. God bless all of you. Rejoice in the knowledge that she is now at peace and enjoying the blessings of Heaven.
Sincerely,
Susan Rovello (Mrs. Tom Rovello)

I will miss the goodness and the greatness my mother taught me since childhood. I will miss the way she called me “Maria Juanita” which she did a week ago. I was called to be at her bedside last week in order for my mom to send her messages to all members of the family. I had the role of a messenger. I know at that point it’s a sign of nearing the end of life. I was happy to be there and has a purpose. Everything was set in order before she joined our Creator.
My family will miss my beloved mother who showed her love unconditionally to all of us. My mother is an angel!
