Adrian Olivas

January 20, 1943 - March 10, 2021

Ceres, California - Adrian Olivas (he preferred his middle name), 78, received eternity’s

reward on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, in Ceres, California. He will be remembered in

life for his excellence as a biblical scholar, teacher, love of plants, trees, very spicy food,

and Dolphins.

Adrian Olivas was born January 20, 1943 in Maguarichic, Chihuahua, Mexico to Maria de

Jesus Duarte and Adrian Olivas. He grew up in Carichic and Cuauahtémoc, Chihuahua,

Mexico and graduated from Escuela Secundaria Justo Sierra in 1962.

From 1962 to 1967, he taught at a primary school near La Quemada, Chihuahua,

Mexico.

He moved to Tijuana, Baja California Norte, Mexico to attend the bible institute

Bethania, where he graduated in 1969. He was immediately hired as bursar and

professor at Bethania, where he later met his wife, Eva Martinez, who attended as a

student, in 1975. They were married April 29, 1978 and had two sons, Hobab and Dan.

He moved to Modesto, California shortly after his older son's birth, where he helped his

father-in-law as a minister and associate pastor in Hughson, California, while attending

Modesto Junior College, and then working as a CNA. He would later take over

pastorship in December 2007, some years before his father-in-law passed away.

When not working, Adrian enjoyed spending time with his family; seeing his sons

perform in musical groups, catching up with friends at conferences, or spending time

with his wife Eva watching movies from Mexico's Golden Age of cinema.

The last ceremony he officiated as a minister was his older son’s, Hobab, wedding on

February 14, 2021.

Adrian is preceded in death by his parents, Adrian Olivas and Maria de Jesus Duarte,

and his oldest sister, Consuelo Sayto. He is survived by his sisters; Berta Villalobos,

Olivia Olivas, and Esperanza Solano; his brother, Alfonso Olivas; His wife Eva Olivas; his

sons Hobab Olivas-Randolph (Celisse Olivas-Randolph), and Dan Olivas.
