Betty Jean Dowdy (Hulstine) passed away October 9th, 2018 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, California. Betty was born December 16th, 1930 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Her parents, Charles and Myrtle Hulstine, had eleven children, six boys and five girls. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Allen Dowdy, her siblings; Calvin Edward Hulstine, Louis Turner Hulstine, Dorothy May Collier, Albert Lee Hulstine, George William Hulstine, Paul Westley Hulstine, and Charles Calvin Hulstine. Her surviving siblings are Nancy Ann Wise (Willie)of Concord,Ca, Wanda Joyce Wiemkin of Bakersfield, Ca, and Peggy Lou Britt of Concord, Ca. The Hulstine family moved to Livingston, California in 1945. Betty married Kenneth Allen Dowdy in 1948 and they were blessed with three children, Carl Dwayne Dowdy,(Kim), Keith Arnold Dowdy(Tammy), and Brenda Kay Sieber(John). Ken and Betty were also blessed with 13 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Betty was very involved in her church, Calvary Temple (The House), in Modesto. Singing in the choir, teaching bible studies, and mission trips were her passion. She was an accomplished artist/painter and some of her paintings will be displayed at the memorial service. Family and friends are invited to the Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, California October 17th at 10am to celebrate her life.
