Bonita “Bonnie” Dumas passed away peacefully at home with members of her family around her. She was born in Renton, WA and was raised in Watsonville, CA with her sister Barbara and her cousins Frances, Margaret and Mary. Bonnie married Alfred “Al” Dumas, and they had three children, Karen, Paul and Kathleen. During their 43 years of marriage (living in Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and Ripon, CA), they developed many life-long friendships. Bonnie was an active member of her church, and enjoyed singing in the choir. She also spent time as a Bluebird/Campfire Girls leader and as a volunteer (Pink Lady) at local hospitals. Bonnie and Al enjoyed playing golf and were members of the Spring Creek Golf and Country Club in Ripon. They also enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren.
After Al died in 1988, Bonnie found solace with family and friends, and had an opportunity to travel. She also enjoyed getting away from the Ripon heat to her townhouse in Monterey, which became a favored gathering place, and family game night was always filled with laughter. After a stroke in early 2011, Bonnie made the decision to merge households with Paul and his family, and joined them in a move to Washington later that year. After only two months in Washington, Bonnie began to have multiple strokes, and ultimately passed away on March 18, 2012.
Bonnie leaves behind her 3 children: Karen Dumas, Paul (Jackie) Dumas, and Kathleen Dumas; her 4 grandchildren: Mike (Susie) McGuffin, Erin (Darrell) Jernigan, Justin (Elisa-Marie) Dumas, Heather (Robert) Strohm; her 1 great granddaughter: Lauren McGuffin; and her sister Barbara (Jim) Howe. Bonnie also left cousins, nieces and nephews and many dear extended family and friends.
Bonnie requested that she be cremated and her ashes be buried next to Al. Evans Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. in Anacortes, Washington arranged the cremation and coordination of arrangements with Lakewood Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Hughson, California.
Bonnie’s Memorial Service and interment has been scheduled for Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 11:00 am. The location: Lakewood Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, California 95326. Phone (209) 883-0411. Rev. Jerry Roberts will be officiating.
