Born and raised in Oakdale, California, Daniel "Danny" Lacazotte was the son of Pierre "Pete" and Florence (Harper) Lacazotte. Danny spent his childhood fishing and hunting in the foothills just outside of Oakdale and in the beautiful Sierras. His first and probably most inspiring fishing and hunting partner was his father. Danny loved to tell stories of all the lessons learned and world perspective gained from the many hours spent with his dad hunting and fishing. Dan's love of fishing in the great outdoors is something that he shared with many friends, his children, and grandchildren.
Dan attended Oakdale schools from kindergarten through high school. While in high school he was an accomplished athlete participating in football, baseball, and basketball. He also served in student government with great pride. Dan had many life-long friends and classmates of whom he always looked forward to meeting up with at class reunions and luncheons.
Following his graduation from Oakdale High School in 1956, Dan attended Modesto Junior College where he continued his passion for football. Soon after MJC Dan went to work as a butcher with Save Mart Supermarkets where he made many a coworker a friend. Dan worked with Save Mart for 38 years before he retired on July 13, 1995, on the day his first grandchild was born.
Dan's most cherished life moment and the memory that he most liked to share was when he got the chance to have that first dance with girl that would become the love of his life. In 1958 Dan met Miss Donna Flake of Oakdale at a Portuguese Festa and they danced. They married in 1959 and settled in Modesto where they raised their three children. They continued to dance and be married for almost 64 years.
Dan is preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister Vanessa "Toby" Peters. He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his beautiful wife, Donna Lacazotte, and his children Pierre (Betty) Lacazotte, Karen (Doug) Barham, and Leanne (Scott) Lewis. Dan also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Hayley (Wyatt) Barham-Snyder, Caleb Barham, Dana, Lily, and Jack Hammerstrom.
A graveside service will be held for Dan on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson. Dan's family requests that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to Valley Comfort Assisted Living & Dementia/Alzheimer's Residence 2809 Lou Ann Drive, Modesto, CA 95350, or SEVA Hospice Inc., 5330 Pirrone Road, Suite 303, Salida, CA 95368.
