Della Rosalee Morris

May 30, 1927-March 25, 2014

Rosalee Morris was born in Wetumka Oklahoma on May 30, 1927, the third child of William Elbert and Rosa Evelyn (Jackson) Lyons. She married Carl Morris in 1947 in Arkansas. They came to Riverbank where they made their home until Carl’s death in 2006, and where she has resided since that time. She went to be with her Lord on March 25, 2014 after a short illness.

Rosalee was a librarian for Riverbank City Schools working primarily at Rio Altura and California Avenue Schools. She retired from that position after nineteen years. She is still remembered fondly by many of those students.

She was always active in her church and has many friends within that church fellowship who will miss her, especially in the kitchen washing dishes for as long as anyone would carry them to her.

Her immediate and extended family will certainly miss her on birthdays and anniversaries because she was THE ONE who always remembered to send a card to commemorate the occasion. Not just any card. Rosalee always carefully picked the cards she sent, trying to remember the exact number of the years of the celebrant. That legacy will be greatly missed.

She is survived by three children: Calvin Morris of San Luis Obispo, Carla Bidwell (Michael) of Oakdale, and Stephen Morris of Riverbank. She is also survived by one brother, Burl Lyons of Arkansas and one sister, Jewell Kee of Ceres. She will be lovingly remembered by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren as well as by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 1141 Walnut Street, Oakdale, CA at 11 a.m on Tuesday, April 1. Memorial contributions may be made to the same church.
