

Derik James Dami, 60, of Turlock, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 7, 2025. He was born on December 1, 1964, in Bakersfield, California.
Derik’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his mother Donna Dami; daughter Erica McCann, and her husband, Chad; and son Dominic Dami. He was a devoted papa to his grandchildren—Wyatt, Leah, and Georgia—who brought immense joy and light to his life. He is also survived by his brother, Lance Dami, Lance’s wife, Renee; nephew, Ryan Dami, and niece, Kayla Dami.
Derik shared his life with his significant other, Shannon Sanford and children Sawyer Rice and Sydney Rice, whose love, support, and companionship enriched his life in countless ways.
Derik attended Fresno State University and was a proud member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, where he formed lifelong friendships and cherished memories.
Throughout his life, Derik worked in real estate services, including commercial and residential real estate, construction, and mortgage services. He took great pride in his work and approached every project with dedication, integrity, and a genuine desire to help others.
Derik was politically active at both the local and state levels. He was passionate about advocating for others and improving conditions within his community. His commitment to building a stronger, more vibrant future for the people around him reflected his belief in service, leadership, and positive change.
Derik enjoyed showing his love through cooking. He took great care in preparing and presenting his dishes, creating meals that brought people together and made them feel cared for. Cooking was one of the ways he expressed his heart, and those lucky enough to taste his creations will always remember the comfort and joy they brought.
He also loved spending time on Lake Don Pedro, where houseboating and fishing with friends became some of his favorite and most relaxing pastimes. At home, Derik shared a special bond with his dog, Gino, who was his loyal companion and constant source of joy.
Derik will be remembered for his warmth, the deep love and protection he carried for his family and the way he nurtured his friendships with others. His presence will be profoundly missed, and his memory cherished by all who knew him.
A service to honor Derik’s life will be held on November 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, California.
