Dima Ferrel passed away peacefully on January 6th at the age of 66, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She lived a beautiful life.
She was born on August 8th,1958 in Salinas, CA to Jesse and Pauline Gallardo. Dima was known for the love she had for her family, animals, friends, and sports. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
Dima will be remembered for the passion and commitment she had to the youth softball and baseball programs. She was a member of the Soledad Little League program and president of the Ceres Youth Baseball organization. She taught and mentored young athletes not only about the game, but about heart and hustle, and the importance of believing in yourself. Beyond the wins and losses, it was the moments off the field that truly defined her impact to the girls and to the community. She was more than just a coach; she was a mentor, a confidante and a second mother to many of her young athletes. She devoted 25 years of her life to coaching Ceres Sizzle. Dima also enjoyed crafts, going to Hobby Lobby, and the San Francisco 49ers.
Dima was a fiercely devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Andrea Gonzalez (Jorge), David Ferrel, Joseph Ferrel, Nicole Ferrel, Sheila Duncan (Asante), and Anthony Ferrel (Liza). Her grandchildren Valaree, Dominic, Jorge Jr., Asante II, Micah, Amaia, David Jr., Janae, and great-grandsons Dominic Jr., and Dezmond. Also survived by her siblings, Becky (Manuel), Shirley (John), Ernest (Linda), Lilly, Mike (Elvia), and several nieces and nephews.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of her family and the countless young athletes she inspired. Dima left an everlasting impression on our hearts and will be remembered forever.
A funeral service for Dima will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326.
