We were young women together - just girls really. And we did all the things that women our age did in LA. Great memories of the partying, the clubbing, the dancing, camping trips, road trips and of course the many laughs we had together. These have stayed with me, have helped shape me and are memories that I cherish. Dede and I grew up together in so many ways.....and then we grew apart as our lives grew more complicated....and then she left Los Angeles. I truly treasured those years of "growing up" from young women to adult women with my dear friend Dede. And I know that I will never forget her. My deepest sympathy to the family, many whom I remember fondly, during this difficult time. The many, many stories we all have of Dede are what will keep her spirit alive.

Mama Dee!! How do I sum up the woman you were to me in just a few short words? It seems impossible. You loved hard and fierce and never hesitated to make me feel like family. Thank you for always opening your arms and home to me. I’ll cherish every time you cheered for me and every word of wisdom or Mexican remedy you gave me. I loved our talks and that you’d call and ask me about the truck or food, or that my phone would call you when I’d say “call Mama” and you’d just laugh at me when I thought I was calling my own mom. Thank you for shaping Erika into the best type of friend. I’m so grateful for her friendship and light in my life. She definitely gets so much from you and I’m forever grateful you live on in her. Thank you for teaching me the Spanish I know, it’s helped me so much with working in kitchens and teaching me the importance of teaching my kids (especially Hayden) how. You never talked about your own strength but always talked about the strength of others fighting the same battle. But like I told you, you’re one of the strongest women I’ve ever known.
I don’t know how to say goodbye and it hurts to even try. I know I will see you again though, so until then Mama Dee! I love you! Save a margarita for me!

Rest in peace, Comad! Some of the best times I had at work were with you. You could make me laugh out loud, more times than not. You were so easy to be around, always making everyone feel like a dear friend. You opened your home to our team, and made great memories doing the simplest things. You will leave such a wonderful legacy here on Earth, with your beautiful smile, fantastic sense of humor, kindness for others and your love for your beautiful family. God Bless you dear friend, until we meet again. My prayers go out to all of your family during this very difficult time
