Donald Galloway, 84, died peacefully at home on November 3, 2013 after a long illness.
Donald was born in 1928 in Pleasant Hill, Illinois. He served his country for four years in the US Air Force and then graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in mechanical engineering. While in college in 1958 he met and married his beloved wife, Julia Bonds Galloway.
Donald began his career with General Foods. After living and working briefly in Houston, Texas, and White Plains, New York, Donald and Julia moved in 1962 to Modesto, California and remained. Donald enjoyed a successful career as an industrial engineer and businessman, co-founding two companies, Thomas and Galloway Associates, a hospital consulting business, and California Agricultural Power Company, an electric power producer.
Donald was loved by his family and friends for his warm smile, his good nature, and his wide-ranging interests, fueled by his love of reading. He really liked cars – especially Fords. But most of all he loved his family.
Donald was preceded in death by his younger son, Dean. Donald is survived by his wife Julia; his elder son Brett and his wife Michelle; his daughter-in-law Rose; grandchildren Abigail, William, Brendan, Matthew, and Joshua; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 8th at 11:00am at Davis Park Church of Christ, 901 W. Rumble Road, Modesto, and will be preceded by a visitation at 10:00am. The funeral will be followed by a graveside service at 2:30pm at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson.
