Donald “Don” Graham Mayne passed away on February 5, 2022, at the age of 90 at his home in Oakdale, California. He died as he had lived his life – quietly, without fuss, and surrounded by loving family.
Don lost his first wife, Marilyn, to cancer in 1975.
Don and Rosie married in 1985. Don brought 4 adult children and Rosie brought 3 adult/teenage daughters to the union. They worked hard to bring the family together, and Don never used the term “my children” or “your children; it was always “our children”.
Don was an amazing father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and loved being with family. He and Rosie were inseparable and often just sat together, holding hands and enjoying being in each other’s company. Don’s eyes would light up when visiting with his kids and grandkids or playing with his great-grandchildren. He was quiet and unassuming but showed his love for family with every action.
Don was a long-time member of the Richland Assembly of God Church in Ceres, CA. He took his family camping every summer. He enjoyed being on the water and was always happiest when driving a boat, whether pulling water skiers or sailing on the Bay. During his retirement, Don and Rosie made numerous RV trips, visiting all four corners of the US. They spent most winter months in Yuma, AZ with friends. He also had a great sense of humor, and his dry wit showed even during his last days in the hospital and at home.
Don is survived by his wife, Rosie, children Dianne Yeo, Karen Sherman, Doug Mayne, Ken Mayne, Tammy Aschenbrenner, Gina Wells and Cathy Crawford, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
Don’s life will be celebrated at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson. Visitation is Friday February 18, 2022, from 5:30-7:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 10:30 am.
Don was loving, patient, forgiving, steadfast and unflappable. He was a good man…and he will be greatly missed.
