Dorothy Millicent Clarke, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Central Valley Post-Acute Care in Riverbank, California. Born on February 22, 1939, in Jamaica, West Indies, she was the cherished daughter of Imogene Armstrong (Burrell).
Dorothy was the devoted mother of 6 children, a proud grandmother to 22 grandchildren, and a beloved great-grandmother to 25 great-grandchildren. Known for her unwavering faith, nurturing spirit, and boundless love, she dedicated her life to raising and inspiring her family to be strong, capable, and compassionate individuals.
She is lovingly survived by her children: Mercedes, Lennis, Bertram, Charles, Edward, and Maurice. Her grandchildren: Joanne, Yasmin, Terrell, Tony, Camille, Cassandra, Chaz, Jason, Venessa, Briana, Joslyn, Precious, Victoria, Maurice Jr., Lennise, Logan, Edward Jr., Alphonso Jr., Sean, Zymire, Zechariah, and Zander. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Jahmeir, Jada, Ta’Kyjah, Terrell Jr., Anteeon, Harmonee, Anoddia, Devon, Alayla, Deion, Ja’iceon, Elias, Germanee, Juell, Charlie Rose, Anthony, Phoenix, Ja’Khy, Xavier, Promise, Bless, Tru, A’Love, London, and Leo.
As a devoted Christian, Dorothy’s faith guided her life. She worked in the nursing field for most of her adult years, where her compassion and dedication touched countless lives. After her retirement, she remained a pillar of wisdom and love for her family and community.
Dorothy was not only a beloved mother and grandmother but also a friend to many. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held January 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home located at 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA 95326. The family invites all who knew her to attend and share their memories.
She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a matriarch whose life was a testament to love, faith, and resilience.
