She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Miles. Eileen is survived by her sons; Christopher (Lynda) of Minneapolis, MN and Sean (Jackie) of Las Vegas, NV; parents Ret. Col. Douglas and Margaret Sheehan of Las Vegas, NV; sisters Mary Simmons of Anchorage, AK and Maggie Sheehan-Carson of Riverdale, GA; brother Ed Sheehan of Haverhill, MA; brothers Mike Sheehan and Kevin Sheehan of Anchorage, AK; brother John Sheehan of Las Vegas, NV. Eileen worked for 35 years as an Alaskan educator and Property Manager for Pleasant Apartments in Ceres at the time of her death.
Growing up in a military family, Eileen and her other “military brat” siblings spent most of their childhood moving from different cities throughout the US and Europe and continued her passion with travel in her adult life. Eileen spent her first few years of high school at Marin Catholic in San Rafael, CA then graduated high school at Ben Eielson Air Force in Fairbanks, AK. Eileen graduated with a BA in Education from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. At the U of A, she built and cherished many friends and memories.
Eileen and Miles moved their family to Ceres in spring of 1976 and lived there for the next 36 years.
One of Eileen’s main passions was “tennis” through the SOS Club. At SOS she met several life- long friends. She vacationed and shared memorable experiences with her SOS friends. Even though she didn’t pick up a racquet until she was in her 30’s…she excelled in the sport right away. Eileen won multiple inter-club and Northern California tournaments, including a National Championship!
“Grandma Leelo’s” main passion was her grandchildren; not only did she love vacationing with her kids and grandkids, but also spent countless times traveling to Minneapolis and Las Vegas baby-sitting and sharing time with her family. She was the most giving and selfless person any of us have ever known. She was a true Angel! Her friends and family are going to miss her dearly.
Eileen’s other interests include: Wine, Fishing, Reading, Movies, and Antique Shopping.
Services for Eileen will be held at Our Lady of the Light Chapel (CCHS Campus) 200 South Carpenter Rd. in Modesto on Saturday, July 21 at 1pm followed by a celebration of life reception at Galletto Ristorante located on 1101 J Street in Modesto from 2:00-5:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions to be made to the National Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the name of Eileen Stout.
