Gene was born on August 16, 1953 to parents Leslie Kenneth Poulson and Alva Louise Williams Poulson in Washington. At a young age, Gene and his family moved to the state of California, where they planted their roots.
Gene discovered his love of cars at a young age. His father Leslie was a member of the Pharohs Modesto Car Club, which was formed in 1948 and is still present to this day. From there, Gene's love of cars continued to skyrocket. He, too, became a member of Pharohs Modesto as well as the Iron Cross VW Club, making new friends with other who shared his hobby. He was active in not only his clubs, but also at many cars shows with his beloved projects.
A beloved memory of Gene is from his mother Alva; "Whenever he came to my house and walked through the front door, he'd yell out 'Burglar!' to let me know he was there... I'd always reply back with 'Call the police' instead." Alva also remembers how caring Gene was; he would always call her every morning, afternoon, and evening to check up on her. Whenever Alva called to ask him a question or ask for some help, he'd always tell her "Family comes first."
Gene is survived by his mother Alva, brothers Rodney "Rod" and Gary, as well as many friends and family. He is preceded in death by his father Leslie in 2020.
He was a beloved son, brother, and friend to all. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and by those lucky enough to get to know him.
