Evelyn was born on July 31, 1943 in Jerusalem, Palestine in what is now the State of Israel. 1951, she immigrated to the United States with her family, settling in Empire, California. She attended Empire Union Elementary School and later graduated from Downey High School in 1961. Soon afterward, she embraced one of the greatest joys of her life - raising her two sons, Troy and Eric.
Throughout her life, Evelyn was known for her strong work ethic, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit. She began her professional career as a bank teller before working as a legal secretary and later with The Modesto Bee. Eventually, she found her true calling in real estate, where she built a successful and respected career with PMZ Real Estate. Even after her retirement in 2024, Evelyn remained passionate about helping others and continued assisting clients and managing her rental properties until the very end.
To know Evelyn was to experience her warmth, humor, and generous heart. She had a gift for making people feel welcomed and valued. Her quick wit, endless supply of jokes, and contagious smile could brighten any room. Whether offering encouragement, lending a helping hand, or simply sharing a laugh, Evelyn made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Evelyn's compassion extended far beyond her family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for children and families facing hardship and was a longtime supporter of charitable organizations dedicated to helping those affected by war, poverty, and adversity. Her generosity was quiet but constant, reflecting the kindness and empathy that defined her character.
Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. Evelyn leaves behind a legacy of generosity, laughter, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched, the friendships she cherished, and the family she loved so deeply.
Evelyn is survived by her sons, Troy Spears and Eric Gardner; her brother, Bill Assad (Sharon); and her sister, Ida Austin. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
