Faye "Elaine" Hunter Scott, 89, of Modesto, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Garden City Rehabilitation Center. Elaine was born to R. Dale Hunter and Mary Coover Hunter on December 31, 1925 in Atascadero, California. She graduated from Modesto High School in 1943 and attended Modesto Junior College. She was briefly employed by Pacific Telephone before supporting the war effort by working at Sharpe Army Depot in Lathrop, California during World War II while waiting for her fiance to return from his tour of duty in the European theatre. On February 10, 1945, Elaine married the love of her life, Joseph L. Scott. They settled in Modesto and raised three daughters. Besides being a housewife and mother, she returned to the workforce after her children were raised and was a bookkeeper for Brownlite Dairy and Holm Brothers Enterprises as well as being a sales associate for Farrs Department Store and an Avon representative. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 2011 after 66 years of marriage. She was a member of the First Christian Church in her youth and later was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God. She was a devout Christian and loved her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her three daughters, Dale E. Hight (Don), of Modesto, Ca, Marsha K Walling (Scott), of Sugar Pine, Ca and Kimberly J Duval, of Modesto, Ca. Along with her daughters, she is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, February 9, 2015, at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA, from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Both visitation and funeral services will be held in the Heritage Chapel. Donations can be made in Elaines name to any local chapter of The American Cancer Society Crohns-Colitis Association, or Alzheimer's Association
