Henry Veneman was born to Henry and Maggie Veneman in Modesto, California. He is survived by his children, Tom (Kate), David (Babs), Patricia, Joan, Dan (Marianetta), and Rob (Sandy), thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is the beloved husband of Gertrude Veneman who proceeded him in death on 2016, after sixty-nine years of marriage. He is also preceded in death by his brother Al and Sister Janice Rylaarsdam. Henry graduated from Modesto High in 1941 and served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. He married Gertrude in 1947 and farmed peaches, almonds, wine grapes, and walnuts and was involved in the start-up of several agricultural processing facilities. Henry was a member of Modesto Christian Reformed Church where he served as deacon and elder and he and Gertrude had many dear and lifelong friends. Henry served in the Farm Bureau, on the Allied Grape Growers Board, Toastmasters, and was active in the Gideons. Henry loved to fly his own plane and had many adventures with Gertrude in the passenger seat to Mexico and around the United States. He loved to fly fish, deer hunt, and duck hunt. He was an avid tennis player and wintered deep-sea fishing in Mexico with friends. Henry will be greatly missed. Memorial contributions can be made to the Gideons International. Funeral services will be held at Modesto Christian Reformed Church on September 29th at 11:30 am.
