
Hoang Tran, 62, passed away April 11th, 2012 in his hometown of Modesto, California. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 16th, 2012 at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, California. The viewing is held from 9:00am to 1:00pm and the service at 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
Hoang Tran was born October 7th, 1949 in Vietnam. His natural creative ability allowed him to become a skilled carpenter most of his life. Hoang began working out of his garage on side jobs and expanded his small business into a warehouse calling it Custom Made Furnitures. In 1998, the family acquired a Chinese restaurant in South Modesto located on Hatch Road, called Golden Phoenix. There, Hoang and his wife, Ban Nguyen, worked diligently up until 2010 when they closed down the restaurant. In early of 2011, Hoang was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer. He fought through his illness and had to go through chemo treatments. He spent his days enjoying his children and grandchildren by his side. On April 11th, 2012, his battle with cancer ended. Forever, his courage and determination to fight through his illness, his love for his family, his bright smile, silly humor, and charismatic ways will forever be engraved in our hearts. Hoang Tran is survived by his wife: Ban Nguyen; 3 daughters and spouse, Minh Tran and Duoc Nguyen, Lan Tran, and Phuong Tran; 3 sons and spouse, Thanh Tran and Thuy Chau, Phong Tran, and John Tran; grandchildren, Ethan, Bella, Lauren, Cody, Sienna, and Valentina.
