

Jack passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side in his room at the Stratford at Beyer Park, his home for the past four months. He was a loving son, husband, Dad and Gramps. Jack is survived by his two children; Richard (Linda) and Susan Oerline (Robert), Grandchildren; Brett, Stacy, Lisa, Gretchen, Cynthia, Brian, Julia and Katrina; Great grandchildren Caleb, Shane, James, Brandon, Joshua, Kelsey and Leanna. And 1 great great grandchild; Annabelle. He is preceded in death by his sister, Frances, parents and loving wife, Helen.
Jack was born in the small town of Gurley, Nebraska and, eventually, moved to Omaha with his sister and parents, Guy and Myrtle. He attended school there and joined the US Army when the National Guard was nationalized at the outset of WWII. He was a Corpsman and eventually entered into pilot training. After receiving his wings he was assigned to fly navigators as they trained on a new navigation system. He flew all over Texas and was stationed at several different bases. It was during his time in the service, Jack met and married the love of his life, Helen to whom he was married for 63 years
After leaving the service, Jack pursued and received a masters degree in engineering. He was an aeronautical engineer for 25 years; first with Northrup Corp. in Southern California then, upon relocating to Los Altos, California, completed his career at Lockheed in Sunnyvale, California.
Jack loved hunting, fishing, golf and bridge. He and Helen took many cruises and traveled all around the United States in their car. He enjoyed fun times with his grandchildren. After Helen passed away, he joined a Bereavement group who have been together since 2006, enjoying cruises, shows and dinners.
He was a faithful Christian and enjoyed church activities over the years and for the past 13 years he attended St Peter Lutheran Church.
There will be a viewing at Lakewood Funeral Home on May 10th 4-8pm. His funeral service will be on May 11th 10am at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 3461 Merle Ave, followed by graveside service at Lakewood Memorial Park. There will then be a luncheon back at St. Peter Lutheran Church to which you are all welcome.
