James Elmer Blum
February 23, 1937 – January 20, 2022

James Elmer Blum, age 84, of Modesto, California passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022. James was born February 23, 1937 to Ella Blum and Elmer Blum.
Jim lived in Modesto for most of his 84 years of life except for 5 years when he transferred to Minnesota for work with PacBell. Jim was a country boy at heart he enjoyed the great outdoors, working in the yard, gardening and fly fishing. He is known for taking long walks and finding little treasures along the way. He has a large jar of coins from his walks. He was also known for keeping his loving wife Erlene organized. At the end of the day you could find Jim sitting in his recliner petting one of the three kittens in the Blum's household. He was employed at PacBell, which became AT&T for many years until he retired.
James is survived by his spouse, Elene Blum; his daugher Kimberly (Edward), his granddaughter Jennifer (Wesley), his grandson Jacob, his grandson Jeremy, his great granddaughter Aela, his great granddaughter Kloey, his great grandson Aidan, his great grandson Gavynn, his great grandson Charlie, his great grandson James and his great grandson Isaiah and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
James was preceded in death by his daughter Kristine; his father Elmer Blum and his mother Ella Blum; his sister Kathleen.
A memorial service for Jim will take place on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Shelter Cove Community Church, 4242 Coffee Rd, Modesto, CA 95357.
