James Calvin Hermansen

James Calvin Hermansen passed away on January 4, 2012 at the age of 88. He was born on December 18, 1923 in Manteca, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents Nels and Elsie Hermansen, brother Milford and sister Elvira Badal.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ellen; 5 sons, Larry (Edith), Dale (Beverly), Tom, Jim (Cathy), Michael (Dora) and daughter Jane (Steve) Doolittle; 8 grandchildren, Thomas, Sarah, Dana, Jeffrey, Scott, Jenna, Sally, Greg and 5 great grandchildren.

"Cal", to most who knew him, grew up on the family farm in Manteca and served in the US Navy during WWII. He attended Modesto Junior College and graduated from U.C. Davis with a degree in Agricultural Education. His primary working career, after teaching for 2 years, was in banking.

He thoroughly enjoyed the many family gatherings held with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, a loyal friend and family man. He will be missed by many.

Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service with military honors at 2:00 PM followed by a reception on January 13, 2012 at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA.
