James Nicholas Rutherford

February 18, 1983 – July 17, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Nicholas Rutherford, who passed away on July 17, 2026, at the age of 43.

Born on February 18, 1983, in Valdez, Alaska, James spent most of his life in Modesto, California. He was a big man with an even bigger heart. A dreamer, a loyal friend, and someone whose kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

James found joy in the things he loved most. He was an avid video gamer, enjoyed bushcraft and the outdoors, and dearly loved his cats, who were never too far from his side.

James is survived by his father, Jimmy Rutherford; his sister, Teddi Snedegar; and his beloved nephews, Pierce, Clay, and Axl, along with many friends and loved ones who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him. While his passing leaves an emptiness that can never be filled, we find comfort in knowing he is now at peace and reunited with our mom in Heaven.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 16, 2026, at 2pm, at the Oakdale Event Center, 335 N. 8th Avenue, Oakdale, CA 95361. Family and friends are invited to join us as we celebrate James’ life and honor the man he was.
