John L. Bland was born in Rector, Arkansas on July 27, 1923. He married Imogene Dickinson in 1946, and they moved to Waterford, CA. They had three children, Myrna, Jeffery, and Imogene’s son by a prior marriage, Gene Jenkins, who preceded him in death. After moving to Waterford, John worked for Foster Farms and then Hershey’s in Oakdale, from which he retired after 25 years there. John was a member of the Waterford First Southern Baptist, where he developed many cherished friendships. After more than 60 years of marriage, Imogene passed away in 2006. Thereafter, John married Dorothy Hale, to whom he has been happily married to for over 6 years. John passed away on October 10, 2013. He leaves behind his wife Dorothy, his two children, Myrna Stackhouse and Jeffery Bland, his daughter-in-law, Mildred Jenkins, a sister, Clara Mae Featherston, as well as four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services are private.
