March 6, 1949 – November 12, 2025
John Charles Powers, lovingly known as “Jack,” passed away on November 12, 2025, surrounded by
his family. A devoted husband, father, Papa, and great-grandfather, Jack was the rock of his family and
a source of strength, humor, and love throughout his life.
Born on March 6, 1949, Jack was known for his sharp wit, sarcastic humor, and the warmth behind
every laugh. He was hardworking, loyal, and a true friend—so much so that those closest to him
affectionately called him “Jackson” and “Stick Man,” nicknames that carried years of camaraderie and
cherished memories.
Jack found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. His favorite place was a swimming pool, even
in freezing weather, and he never passed up a slice of German chocolate cake. He was also a
passionate sports fan, faithfully cheering for the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, and
Golden State Warriors.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Linda Kay Powers; his siblings Gloria Powers-Shelley, Steven
Powers, and Maryanne Carver; and his daughters Tasha Kelley, Alysia Powers, and Kimberley
Zamzow. He was a proud grandfather to Justin Kelley, Kiersten Powers, Joseph Campbell, Ethan
Campbell, and Kyler Zamzow, and a delighted great-grandfather to Justin Kelley Jr., Aubree Kelley,
and Lenae Potts.
His love, wisdom, and humor live on in each of them.
Jack’s service will be an intimate gathering for family only.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Jack will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving
him.
