September 25, 1947-June 21, 2018
Kathleen "Katie" Scranton Keiser passed away in Hughson, CA on June 21, 2018.
Katie was born in Seattle, WA in 1947. When Katie was two, she moved with her family to Stanislaus County. She often shared fond memories of her early years on the family ranch in Denair. Katie grew up in Hughson, and graduated Hughson High School in 1965.
Katie spent many dedicated years as a county librarian, mostly at the Hughson branch. Story time was one of her most beloved activities as a librarian, of which she was able to continue participating in during recent years with her grandchildren. Many will remember Katie as a talented artist, an avid reader, a local historian, and someone who truly loved her family, friends and community. She was a memorable firecracker with a witty sense of humor. She was an amazing woman who took the time to see the beauty in the world around her, and then often translating that beauty into a painting to share with all. Her artistic spirit will be missed by many.
She will be dearly missed by her loved ones she leaves behind. She is survived by her sisters Virginia (Keith) Munroe and Sarah Lewis. Her children, Barbara Nicholas (Brian), Anna Nicholas and Jacob (Heather) Keiser. Her beloved grandchildren: Dominic Nicholas, Noah, Abby and Hannah Keiser. Also, Katie is survived by several nieces, nephews (which includes greats) and cousins.
