Kimberly Lynn Dunbar

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Kimberly Lynn Dunbar, who left this world unexpectedly on July 2, 2026, at the age of 62. While her family is devastated by this unimaginable loss, they find comfort in remembering a life filled with love, laughter, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished most.

Kimberly was born on October 26, 1963, in Fort Meade, Maryland, to James and Linda Park. As the daughter of a United States Marine, she experienced a childhood unlike most, living in several places around the world, including Guam, Puerto Rico, and Cuba. Those experiences helped shape her adventurous spirit, adaptability, and ability to connect with people wherever life took her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Linda Park. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Mike Dunbar; her daughter, Kyndal Sum (David Sum); her two treasured grandsons, Theo and Henry; and her brothers, Steven Park (Kim Park) and Rusty Park (Jennifer Park), along with her loving mother-in-law Sharon Dunbar (Bob Dunbar - deceased), her brother-in-law Clint Dunbar (Sarah Dunbar) and sister-in-law Shannon Vestesten (Jerry Vestesten).

Kimberly dedicated many years of service to the Sylvan Union School District, where she worked as both a Campus Supervisor and Lead Nutritional Service Worker at Somerset Middle School before retiring. She genuinely cared for the students and staff she worked alongside, building lasting friendships and making a positive impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Kimberly shared a love story with her husband, Mike, that was admired by everyone who knew them. For 34 years, they were truly inseparable. Whether they were out together or simply at home, you could almost always find them holding hands. They shared one soda cup for years not because they had to, but because it was just one of the many little things that made them, them. Every morning began with "I love you," and every night ended the same way. Their love wasn't just spoken it was lived in the quiet, everyday moments that often go unnoticed but meant everything. Together they built a life filled with unwavering devotion, laughter, and unconditional love, creating a marriage that was a beautiful example of partnership, friendship, and choosing each other every single day.

Although she wore many titles throughout her life, none brought her more pride than being "Grammy." Theo and Henry were the absolute light of her life. She treasured every opportunity to spend time with them whether it was celebrating milestones, sharing laughs, or simply being together. Her love for her grandsons was immeasurable, and they knew without question just how deeply they were adored.

Even in her passing, Kimberly continued to give. As an organ and tissue donor, she made the extraordinary decision to help others through the gift of donation. It was a final act of selflessness that perfectly reflected the way she lived her life: always giving, always caring, and always putting others before herself.

Though her time with us feels far too short, Kimberly's legacy is immeasurable. She leaves behind a family who adored her, friends who loved her dearly, and countless lives made brighter simply because she was part of them. Her laughter will echo in our memories, her kindness will inspire us, and her love will remain woven into our hearts forever.

A Celebration of Kimberly's Life will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home in Hughson, California. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her life, share memories, and celebrate the incredible woman she was.
