

La Veta Mae Rhoy passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on September 4, 1933, La Veta was a cherished, gentle, kind-hearted, and thoughtful woman whose presence brought quiet comfort to those who knew her.
Born in Washington, La Veta was the daughter of Oliver Eugene and Hazel Louise Wagenman and was one of six children.
La Veta worked at Gallo Winery and retired after 32 years of dedicated service.
A devoted reader, La Veta found joy and peace in books and the lifelong learning they offered.
La Veta was actively involved in her community and valued meaningful connection with others. She was a member of Modesto Bells, the Persephone Guild, and the American Business Women's Association, where she was honored with the “Woman of the Year” award in 1997. She was also a member of Harvest Presbyterian Church and volunteered in the choir.
La Veta is survived by her three children C. Renee Rhoy, Cheri Crum, and C. Butch Rhoy; 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and her three sisters Gladys Robirds, Betty Davidson, and Dolores Cot. She was preceded in passing by her two brothers, Harold Wagenman and Kenneth Wagenman.
A committal Service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326, on March 19, 2026 at 10:30AM. Following the committal will be a Celebration of Life at Harvest Presbyterian Church, located at 1813 Moffett Road in Ceres, CA at 11:30AM.
