his two daughters Sharon & Brenda and niece Debbie at his side. His house was truly blessed as five generations were visiting at the time of his passing. Larry was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma on December 9,1929, to Perry C. & Bertha M. Wheat. Then married the love of his life on October 6, 1951. Larry was father to Sharon and Brenda. Larry & Velma raised their family with love and devotion in Modesto, CA. In 1984, the family, including two granddaughters Lisa and Tami, moved to Juneau, AK where grandson Jason was born. In 1996, Larry retired for the 2nd time, and they moved for the final time. It only took six months and their children, grandchildren including the third granddaughter Brittany, and some great-grandchildren, and all relocated to the Roseburg, Oregon area. Larry was proud of being a dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and great-great-grandpa, but we all know he was most proud to call himself a husband and best friend to his wife Velma of 70 years and now an eternity in Heaven together. Over the years Larry along with wife, Velma, were very gracious volunteers. Larry was a member of the VFW, spent a few terms as Modesto High School’s Band Booster president even serving (1) year after daughter Brenda graduated, wife, Velma served as Hospitality Coordinator for First Baptist Church of Juneau which meant her best friend Larry was by her side serving fellow church family and friends with giving hearts. Larry served in the US Army: Joining on 4 – November – 1948 Receiving an Honorable Discharge on 7 – August – 1952 His most significant duty assignment: Service Battery, The 49th Field Artillery Battalion Medals received: Korean Service Meal with (1) Bronze Service Star and the United Nations Service Medal - Korea Lawrence “Larry” Wheat of Roseburg, OR is survived by daughter Sharon Smith and husband John of Sutherlin, OR; daughter Brenda Mayberry and husband Johnny of Roseburg, OR; granddaughters, Lisa Cannon and husband Cecil, Tami Quamme and husband Robert of Sutherlin, OR, grandson Jason Mayberry and wife Amber of Roseburg, OR and granddaughter Brittany Ballew and husband Blake of Sutherlin, OR; step-grandchildren, Julie Smith, Kevin Smith and Lisa Smith; 18 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Donald Meadows and wife Christa of Modesto, CA; brother-in-law James Madsen of Hughson, CA and sister Annetta Winn of Weleetka, OK; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his wife Velma, his father Perry C. Wheat and mother Bertha M. Wheat.
