Lilli Erika Cummings

Erika (Davis) Cummings, of Modesto, passed away on October 3, 2017 at the age of 80. She was born in Wiesbaden, Germany on March 8, 1937, where she was raised until she moved to the United States in 1966 (after marrying a US soldier). Erika’s strength and courage hit a high when, a handful of years later, her marriage ended and she found herself raising her 2 young daughters on her own in a foreign country. On July 21, 1985, she married her soulmate, Harold Cummings. They enjoyed 32 years together, filled with love, joy, family and friends. They built wonderful memories with many family/friends dinner and game nights, Saturday football gatherings with friends, trips to Tahoe, Reno, Oregon, Hawaii and Europe and their active involvement with their church. Erika had a career as a Registered Dental Assistant for almost 40 years. A large portion of that time was working in the field of children’s dentistry. She truly loved her

job and her opportunity to work with children. Erika shared her passion for her Lord Jesus Christ by teaching Sunday School and volunteering her time on the Children’s Ministry Team at Centenary Church. Her strong faith was evident to all who encountered her. Erika enjoyed gardening, the theatre and travel. She also adored doing arts and crafts, especially with her grandchildren during the holiday seasons. The numerous hours she spent with her grandchildren (taking them to museums, parks, the theatre, as well as precious time at her home) will always be cherished. Erika was survived by her beloved husband Harold Cummings, her daughters Insa Duke and Barbara Wyrick, her son-in-laws Roger Duke and Chuck Wyrick, her 9 grandchildren (Braden and Rianna Duke, Seth and Tori Wyrick, Jessica and Kassandra Cummings and Christopher, Christian and Chad Cummings) and her 4 great grandchildren. . A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 11th at 11:00am, at Centenary Church, 1911 Toyon Ave, Modesto, CA. Reception immediately following.
