Louise Marie Vargas 85, long time resident of California and Colorado (since 2008) passed away on May 26, 2025. Louise was born in Hollister California and raised on a dairy in her younger years. She loved spelling in school, sports, and running; very often surpassing the boys in races. Louise and Edwin had their first date in June and married four months later in September of 1959. Edwin was the love of her life, they raised six children together and celebrated 65 years of marriage this past September accompanied by family and friends.
Louise often spoke of how much she loved being a Mother and how very much she loved Ed. Louise was a homemaker and farmers wife and thoroughly enjoyed her duties with elegance and grace. She was a meticulous housekeeper and organizer and a top notch cook. Louise and Ed had an abundance of friends and family members. Throughout the years they threw many memorable parties that people still talk about; barn parties, pool parties, New Year’s Eve, and numerous holidays/ birthdays celebrated. Together they enjoyed vacationing when they had time. The grandchildren fondly remember times spent with grandpa and grandma camping in their motorhome and going to the cabin.
Louise was a member of St Jude’s Catholic Church in Ceres, California and St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland Colorado. She was a member of YLI (Young Ladies Institute) and enjoyed running bingo at the church bazaar. She was highly involved in St Jude’s for many years. She was a member of The Sweethearts at St John the Evangelist. She served as secretary for UPEC/PFSA for thirty plus years. She was First Lady for UPEC in 2000-2001 supporting Edwin in his UPEC presidential role, duties, and activities. Louise and Ed’s children include Edwin Vargas Jr (Eddie), Cheryl Vargas, Deanne Vargas, Michael Vargas (passed 2022), Michelle Vargas Hopkirk (spouse Jamie Hopkirk), Jeffrey Vargas (spouse Melody Vargas), 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren.
Louise’s siblings: Sonny (Smokey) Thomas (wife Genie), Edwina Cole, Patricia Stephens, and Retha Cameron. Louise will be missed by her family and friends and leaves a legacy of love and love for family.
