October 18, 1953 – May 1, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lucas Solis Yañez, who tragically left us on May 1, 2025, following a devastating vehicle accident. Born on October 18, 1953, in Ocuituco, Morelos, Mexico, Lucas was the beloved son of Candelario Yañez Flores and Anacleta Solis Altamirano, and one of eight siblings: Pablo, Apolonio, Rodolfo, Natividad, Alicia, Maria Cruz, and Eulalia.
At just 17, Lucas joined the Mexican military, serving his country with pride before returning home to help his father tend the family land. In pursuit of new opportunities, Lucas later made the courageous decision to begin a new life in the United States. He settled in California, where he worked for over a decade at the Louis Rich Turkey Plant Company.
It was during this chapter that he met the love of his life, Rebecca Ann Chavez. They married in 1982 and built a life together that spanned 43 years. Lucas eventually found his calling as a truck driver, working with Randy Trucking, Summit Trucking, and finally settling into a long and dedicated career at Safeway Distribution Center, where he remained until his passing.
Lucas will be remembered as a hardworking, dependable man who always prioritized his family. While he valued his privacy and kept his circle small, his heart was expansive. Friends and family alike knew they could count on him — whether they needed shelter, advice, financial help, or simply someone to listen. Lucas never turned anyone away.
An avid reader, Lucas found comfort and strength in self-improvement books, especially when caring for his wife during her battle with stage four cancer. He was eager to share the knowledge he gained, always striving to better himself and those around him. His pride in his home was equally strong, and he took particular joy in his yard, crafting green checkered designs that even made the neighbors envious.
Though often teased about retiring, Lucas loved his work and cherished the feeling of strength and purpose it brought him. His favorite response was, “I love my job and feel healthy and strong enough to keep working for years to come,” often chuckling about younger coworkers eager for his senior position. Deep down, his driving force was clear: ensuring his beloved “Viejita” was always cared for.
Lucas has now joined his parents and two sisters in eternal rest. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Rebecca Ann Yañez; his children, Cathy Bedoy-Duenas, Francine Fragua, and Ismael Yañez; his cherished grandchildren, Adrian Martinez, Natalie Martinez, Aliyah Perez, Mireyah Fragua, and Brianna Yañez; great-grandson, Jaxson Martinez; three brothers, two sisters, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives he touched.
Lucas's absence is deeply felt and will continue to echo in the hearts of those who loved him. His legacy of love, strength, and unwavering support will endure forever.
