Lucille Elizabeth Buchanan

JULY 31, 1920 -JANUARY 15, 2014

Lucille Elizabeth, 3rd of 8 children of John & Catherine Taylor of Fort Wayne, Indiana was raised in a warm and loving family. In 1946 she married John Gillispie and moved to Turlock where she raised a family and lived until her death.

Lucille was gifted with unique musical skills and loved playing piano, organ, accordion and guitar; sharing her music with family, friends and others. She was a member of the Turlock Senior Band for over 25 years and loved being a member in a group of several musical friends who played for many different events in Turlock. While in her 80's, she and several friends enjoyed sharing their music at several local nursing homes. Lucille loved being with family and friends. She and John were members of Modesto Horseless Carriage Club, driving their 1915 Model T on numerous car tours and in parades and events. Lucille was a long time member of the Turlock VFW Women's Auxiliary. During WWII she worked at G.E., which supplied equipment used in the war. She married Al Buchanan in 1996 and they shared many happy days together until his death in 2008. She loved to cook and will be remembered for her wonderful pies.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend and will be missed. She leaves 2 daughters and their husbands; Shirley & Clyde King of Gustine, Sandra & Jason Hilton of Salem, Oregon; 2 grandchildren, Kimberly Ray of Berkeley, Michael Ray & wife Rhonda of Gustine, great grandchild Mikayla and two sisters: Mary Ann Schlacter of Ohio and Carol Hayden of TN., and many nieces and nephews. We will miss her smiles, hugs and laughter, but we know she is in the arms of her loving Lord and Savior.

A graveside service will be held on January 23 at 11:00 AM at Lakewood Memorial Park (Restland Garden), 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA.

A Celebration of Life luncheon will take place at 12:00 PM at First Christian Church of Turlock, 180 S. Denair, Turlock, CA. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your favorite charity in her memory.
