Mable Reed

On Saturday, November 26, 2022, Mable Reed peacefully passed away at the age of 89 in Modesto, CA. Mable was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, auntie and friend. She was devoted to her family. Mable is survived by her loving husband of 67 ½ years, Don, sons, Don, Jr., (Marti), and Chris (Nikki). Her four grandchildren, Linzie (Jon), Derek (Elysia), Cierra (Nick) and Cali (Michael), brought her such joy. They gifted her with seven beautiful great-grandchildren who she cherished with all of her heart. Family was everything to Mable. To say that her family and friends will miss her greatly is an understatement.

Mable was born in Irvington, CA on April 14, 1933 and was the youngest of six children born to Manuel and Virginia Brandao. She spent her youth on her family’s dairy in Los Banos, CA. In 1953, Mable met Don while working at the drug store lunch counter in Los Banos where Don would go to eat lunch. Mable and Don were married on May 21, 1955 in Las Vegas, Nevada. After starting their beautiful life together in Los Banos, in 1957 they moved to Modesto where both of their sons were born.

Mable was a parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima, and was one of the original golden parishioners when St. Joseph’s Catholic Church was organized over 50 years ago. She continued to attend weekly mass at St. Joseph’s. Her faith was very important to her and she lived her life with those values.

The family wishes to thank Lidia’s Blessed Home and Bristol Hospice, Modesto, for the love and care they showed Mable and our family over the past few months.

A mass and rosary will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1813 Oakdale Rd., Modesto, on December 7, 2022 at 9:30 am. Please join us for a reception following the service in the church hall.
