

Margaret Scott of Modesto, CA. passed away peacefully on December 10, 2016 in Modesto, CA from complications of pneumonia Margaret was born in 1931 in Chino, CA to Calvin and Eunice Delphey. Her early childhood was spent in Chino, CA and Santa Barbra, CA. While in Junior High School she moved with her family to Ventura, CA. where her father became the County Director of Agriculture. Margaret graduated from Ventura High School and attended the University of the Pacific (UOP). She graduated in 1953 earning her Bachelors of Arts in Education. While at UOP she visited Modesto with a roommate where she was introduced to her roommate’s brother, Donald H. Scott, who would later become her husband of 60+ years.
After graduation, Margaret taught school in Avenal, CA and Ventura, CA. She moved to Modesto to marry Donald and continued teaching. She taught for both the City of Modesto and the Empire School District. Her passion for teaching was only exceed by her commitment to the children she educated. She received numerous accolades from parents, co-teachers and school administration for her dedication to education.
Margaret married Donald H Scott in 1956 and was a loving wife for over 60 years. She and Donald had two children, Major Donald Scott, USA, Retired and Ms. Janet Scott. Margaret was a member of the Oakdale Community Methodist Church and the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau.
Margaret will be greatly missed by both family and friends. She always had a smile for both friend and stranger alike. She is survived by her Husband Donald H. Scott, her two children, Donald and Janet, her sister Barbara Moll along with seven nephews and three nieces.
A viewing will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park between 4:00pm and 8:00pm on December 19. Her celebration of life service will be at 1:00pm December 20 also at Lakewood Memorial Park.
The Family requests that donations be submitted to the Oakdale Community Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
