She was raised in Waterford, CA, moved to Modesto in 1935, and graduated from Modesto High school in 1937. She attended Modesto Junior College and Merritt Business School in Oakland, CA. She worked as a secretary, including jobs with City of Modesto and Stanislaus County, retiring in 1973.
She enjoyed writing short stories, directing social activities, and singing with Mothers of Note, Sweet Adelines, and First Christian Church choir. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Nelson and stepson Richard Nelson, both of Modesto, and her sister Beth Pitney of Chico, CA. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Campodonico (Stephen) of Three Rivers, CA, stepdaughter Sue Sitton (Roger) of Modesto, stepsons Tom Nelson (Vivian) of Ventura, CA, and Gerry Nelson (Gail) of Florence, CO, grandson Steve Campodonico (Paty) of Pasadena, CA, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
