Mehdi Mozaffari, aged 93, entered into the arms of his Savior on January 10, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
How do you sum up 93 years of an amazing man? Mehdi Mozaffari lived a long and full life. He was born on March 5, 1930, in Mashhad, Iran, to Sedighe Nombre Yek and Hassan Mozaffari Moaref. Mehdi was the fourth child of a large and loving family, as evidenced by his 17 siblings. At the age of 18, Mehdi started a lifelong relationship with the Lord. He met his future wife at the American Missionary Hospital, where she was studying to be a nurse. On August 13, 1956, he married his beautiful wife, Rosa, and over 60 years of marriage, they raised three boys. In 1974, he brought his family to the United States, where they settled in Modesto, California.
After high school, Mehdi attended the Military Academy in Iran. Following the Military Academy, he attended technical school. For 22 years, Mehdi was a prominent banker in Iran. Once emigrated to the United States, Mehdi held a variety of positions to support his family. A hard worker, Mehdi retired in 1990 when he and Rosa moved to Copperopolis, California. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his family, working on his rock garden, and truly appreciating the world around him.
Mehdi had a love of gardening and loved to learn about history. He enjoyed reading and had a passion for cacti and succulents. Mehdi, alongside Rosa at their Copperopolis residence, created one-of-a-kind rock gardens with tons of decorative rocks fit for a king. He loved his cacti so much that, during their move back to Modesto, he dug up and brought his cacti collection with him, one huge cactus at a time. He was an avid collector of many things. His stamps, matchbook, political button, and coin collections were proudly displayed throughout his house and shown to all visitors. He loved to keep up with politics and current events, even to his last days. Mehdi, with his newfound love of internet and Facebook, kept up with news and family. Mehdi was known for “liking” every photo and loved to catch up on everyone’s life updates. He loved people and his family.
Mehdi is survived by his children, Ernie, André (Diane), and Emil Mozaffari; his grandchildren, Branden Mozaffari, and Chrissa Mozaffari Easter (Joshua); and his great grandchildren, Oliver and Conner Easter. He is also survived by his siblings Batool, Ali, Mahmood, Tahereh, Naser, Maryam, Javad, Narges, Fatimah, and Nasreen.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Rosa, his parents, and his siblings Ghodsi, Marsieh, Mashoomeh, Mahin, Amir, and Soroor.
